Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

"Rooted" artwork from our 2021-22 kickoff meeting

No two tree paintings were alike! The only "rules" were that the tree had to be connected to the ground and show a trunk, branches, leaves, and fruit.
We talked about how each one of us has our own kind of goodness to add to the world--these are the fruit, colorful and nourishing, for others to enjoy. And we talked about how some things or some people in our lives are there only for a season, like the leaves, while others are more foundational, firm, unchanging, like the trunk.
Yet sometimes even the seemingly solid trunk can be damaged or lost. How does the tree survive?

It's all about the roots. If a tree's roots are strong, it will stay alive and, when it's ready, begin to produce new shoots. They'll look really small and puny at first, but if the roots keep receiving water and nutrients from the soil they will grow.

My prayer for all these young people is that they stay rooted and grounded in love (Eph. 3:18) so they can thrive as they were created to do.
