Offer it up!


Have you heard of the Catholic expression "offer it up"? To "offer it up" means to bring your disappointment, frustration, or other emotion from things not going your way to God. Ask God to use your "suffering" for the good of others, as a penance for your sins or for the sins of others. God can take our discomfort and make something good of it. What can you offer up today, now? The physical and mental effort you put into a sport or play practice, doing a chore, being kind to a sibling or a person who you find hard to like? Maybe you offer up your homework. I have found out from attending Rooted functions that homework is a big thing for youth!


It might help to have a specific prayer to recite or think about when you offer it up. Try memorizing the Anima Christi (Author: St. Ignatius Loyola):
