Thursday boost: Show your enthusiasm!

Hello, Rooted Youth Group Members,

Are you familiar with the haka dance? It's a traditional dance of the Maori, the native people of the country of New Zealand. According to the website www.newzealand.com, "The haka is a ceremonial Māori war dance or challenge. Today, haka are still used during ceremonies and celebrations to honour guests and show the importance of the occasion."

Take a look at this youtube clip in which a large group of high school boys honor a retiring teach with a haka:

These young men really put their hearts and souls into their haka! Even though some of the boys don't appear to be Maori, all of them demonstrate unity and respect for the Maori culture. Sometimes when I'm at church I wish the congregation could show a little more enthusiasm during Mass.

Now I'm not suggesting we perform a haka during Mass, but could we show more enthusiasm for our faith and demonstrate that enthusiasm and love for God by really participating in Mass? What would that look like?

What do you think?

Yours in Christ,

Paula Goetzinger
